TLDR
We may bucket habits/places/people into sterile (bland) / fertile (interesting), but whenever we classify something as the former, we fail to appreciate the fertility of everything. There's wonder and beauty in the "mundane."

Beautiful beautiful piece that weaves perfect examples (Ghibli, Shulgin) into his own story. Made me smile really hard and feel excited.

I tried writing about learning to savor the mundane in on traveling: to learn to live ; Nick's essay is what I hoped mine would end up looking like. One of my favorite essays of this year.

And when I'm confronted with sterility, I will embrace that if only I had better eyes I'd see that everything is fertile.
